Declining Enrollment and Reduced Funding Issues

At the Board meeting on November 20th the Board of School Trustees passed the following motion effective with the 2015-2016 school year:

  • North Dearborn Elementary will move to the current Sunman-Dearborn Intermediate School.
  • All three Elementary Schools will house grades K-5.
  • Grade 6 will be moved to Sunman-Dearborn Middle School.

This was a difficult decision for the Board but was one that met educational needs as well as fiscal needs of the corporation.
This decision has the estimated potential of savings (in round numbers) between $700,000.00 and $750,000.00
